Monotype Prints
'Storm Shadows' 4X7
A variety of printmaking techniques and materials are used to create monotype landscape images including handmade paper, woodcuts, and color pencils. In contrast to relief or an intaglio processes in which multiple images can be printed from master blocks or plates, a monotype creates only one (mono) unique image using printmaking methods.
The final piece of monotype artwork captures and reveals a unique response to nature that reflects a fleeting moment in time. The artwork conveys a calmness created by quiet and subtle repetition of natural shapes and colors that are in measured harmony.

The pencil drawings on paper stem from a love of small lined etchings with intimate detail. Architecture lends itself nicely to this medium, showing the composition and personality of each structure.
Alphabet Designs
